83 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND BUTLER, Gordon B. “Bruce” Bruce was born on May 13, 1943 in Cornwall, Ontario. He enlisted in the Royal Canadian Air Force in September 1961 in Ottawa, Ontario. He completed his recruit training at CFB St. Jean, QC, and his trade training as a supply technician at CFB Borden, ON. He served at CFB Bagotville, QC, Canadian Forces Station Gypsumville, MB, CFS Falconbridge ON, CFB Lahr, Germany, CFB Winnipeg and Air Command Headquarters in Winnipeg and his last posting with Directorate of Procurement for Aerospace Ottawa. Bruce was also posted to Montreal for the 1976 Olympics. He completed a six month tour in Ismailia, Egypt, and a five month tour in Jamaica. He was honourably discharged in 1987 at the rank of Master Warrant Officer and was awarded the Special Service Medal (NATO), the UN Emergency Force (Egypt/Sinai) and the Canadian Forces Decoration and Clasp. Gordon has been a member of Sir Arthur Currie Legion Branch 116. CABLE, Lloyd D. L. G. Lloyd was born on November 10, 1920 in Cobourg, Ontario. He enlisted in the Army on October 28, 1941. He served as a gunner with the Royal Regiment of Canadian Artillery, 15 Battery in England during World War II. He received his basic training in Peterborough. He was posted with the English troops at Oswestry to train with the Counter Mortar Unit. They learnt the war was over while travelling to Wales’ training area. He was discharged on February 9, 1946 and was awarded the Defence Medal, the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and Clasp, and the War Medal 193945. Lloyd has been a member of Cobourg Legion Branch 133 for 63 years. CABLE, John B. John was born in Norfolk, Devonshire, England on July 9, 1910. He enlisted in the Army on May 8, 1940. He served with the Midland Regiment, 1st Battalion and the Toronto Scottish Regiment in France and Germany during World War II. He was discharged on September 21, 1945. Private Cable was awarded the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and Clasp, the 1939-45 Star, the France and Germany Star, the Defence Medal, and the War Medal 1939-45.
