93 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND CASTATOR, Tilford H. Tilford was born in Woodbridge, Ontario. He enlisted in the Royal Canadian Air Force on September 20, 1941. He was involved in surveillance during World War II. He was discharged on October 12, 1942 due to wounds sustained while serving. After his discharge, he retired to Mount Dennis, Toronto as a superintendent of an apartment building. He was a member of Mount Dennis Legion Branch 31. Tilford passed away on October 23, 1973. CATHLINE, Ralph B. Ralph was born in Saint John, NB on November 14, 1916. He married Rita Alice Meahan in 1937 and had two daughters. He enlisted in the Army on November 4, 1940. He served with the 4th Army Field Workshop, Royal Canadian Ordinance Corps. In May 1944, he continued his service with the Royal Canadian Electrical and Mechanical Engineers. He was discharged in January 1947. He re-enlisted in 1949 and served in the Regular Peacetime Army until May 1967 and was attached to the Royal Canadian School of Infantry from 1951-67. Ralph has been a member of Dr W. C. (Bill) Little M. M. Legion Branch 147 for 18 years. CATAFORD, Gerard J. Gerard was born on December 22, 1909 in River Valley, ON. He enlisted in the Army on October 9, 1942. He served with the Canadian Infantry, A Company, No. 1 Platoon in the United Kingdom and Continental Europe during World War II. Captain Cataford was discharged on August 5, 1946. He was awarded the Defence Medal, the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and Clasp, and the War Medal. After being discharged, Gerard joined the Supplementary Reserves with the Algonquin Regiment in Kapuskasing and stayed with them for sixteen years. He also taught in high school and retired in 1972. He was a member of Kapuskasing Legion Branch 85 for over 40 years. Gerard passed away on January 14, 1992.
