125 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND CHAMBERS, Arthur Robert “Art” Comrade Art was born on April 28, 1922 in Collingwood, Ontario. He enlisted in the Canadian Army in 1939 in Toronto. Art originally served with the 1st Hussars but was transferred to the Lincoln and Welland Regiment where he served as a Staff Driver and a dispatch rider during World War II. Comrade Art served in England, France and Holland. At the end of World War II, Art served in France and was later transferred to Holland. Art was honourably discharged in 1945 and returned to London, Ontario. Art met Jean Jones in St. Thomas, Ontario in 1945 and married her in 1948. Art and Jean had two children. On October 2, 2014, they will have celebrated their 66th wedding anniversary. Art Worked for the CPR for thirty years. As well as Art serving his country, his mother and three brothers also served in World War II. He has been a member of Grand Bend Legion Branch 498 for 69 years. CHARBONEAU, Luc D. Luc was born in Timmins, Ontario on May 28, 1957. He joined the Air Cadets in 1971 and simultaneously served with the Algonquin Regiment, B Company from 1973-1976, in Timmins. In 1977, he served with the Cadet Instructors Cadre and is still serving. In June of 2012, the Governor General invested Lieutenant-Commander Luc Charboneau into the Order of Military Merit at the rank of Officer. Lt. Commander Charbonneau worked as an Analytical Chemist for Xstrata Copper for thirty years, before retiring in 2010. He also received the Canada Decoration (CD). CHARBONNEAU, Arthur Joseph “Art” Art was born in Arnprior, Ontario on January 9, 1922. He joined the Army in 1942 training in Brockville, then Aldershot and the Parkhatch Estate, near Cranleigh, Surrey, England. Before going overseas he married Noreen McLachlan, April 24, 1943. As part of the Royal Canadian Electrical Mechanical Engineers, 2 Canadian Tank Troop Workshop, known as The Sign of the Wolf, he landed on Juno Beach, June, 1944. He served in France, Holland, Belgium and Germany during World War II. While in France, he was able to meet with his older brother Thomas. After his discharge in 1946, he returned to work at Kenwood Mills (Huyck, Canada) in Arnprior. He was a member of the Renfrew County School Board for over forty years. Art and Noreen have four children. They celebrated their 72nd Anniversary April 24, 2015. He is a member of the Arnprior Legion Branch 174.
