141 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND CLIFFORD, Clarence R. Clarence was born in Prince George, British Columbia on February 8, 1925. He enlisted in the Army in July 1944 and served with the 4th Canadian Armoured Division, 10th Canadian Infantry Brigade, Algonquin Regiment in Canada, England and North West Europe during World War II. He was discharged on September 13, 1946. He was a Life Member of Harry Brown V. C. Legion Branch 497 and served in many capacities over the years. Clarence passed away on May 21, 2008. CODDINGTON, Allan F. Allan was born in St Marys, Ontario on September 21, 1922. He enlisted in the Air Force and trained at No. 4 Bomber & Gunnery School at RCAF Station Fingal. The unit trained bomb aimers and air gunners during World War II. Upon completion of his air force days, Allan returned and worked at the St Marys Cement Company until his retirement. He had a workshop in his backyard where he worked on building an airplane that he hoped to fly one day. He married Hazel Ball and had two boys and three girls. Allan passed away on October 21, 1997. CLOUTHIER, Wilfred Claude Wilfred was born in Arnprior, Ontario on September 6, 1922. He enlisted in the Army in 1938 and served during World War II with the 4th Canadian Armoured Brigade in Juno, Caen, Fallaise, Hockwald and Varel/Wilhelmshaven, Germany. Wilfred landed in France at Bernières-sur-Mer, Juno NAN-White on July 23, 1944 and participated in Operation “Totalize”, the battle of Caen, Operation “Tractable” and the Fallaise Gap. He was injured in Operation “Blockbuster”, the Battle of the Hockwald Forest in February 1945 as the Allied Forces moved into the Rhineland. Wilfred rejoined his unit two weeks later completing the War in the German city of Wilhelmshaven, VE Day. He was discharged on February 19, 1946. For his efforts in the Battle of Normandy and the subsequent liberation of France he received the Chevalier (Knight) of the Order of the Légion d’Honneur of France on November 8, 2014. Wilfred is the father to twelve children, a husband to an English War Bride, a proud Veteran and loyal patriot. He passed away on January 24, 2015 and will never be forgotten.
