153 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND CUILLERIER, Robert A. J. Robert was born on December 10, 1939 in Kapuskasing, Ontario. He enlisted in the Navy on April 15, 1957 and served as an Ordinary Seaman on HMCS Carleton, Cornwallis, Hochelaga, and Donnacona in Canada during Peacetime. When Robert started his training in 1958, the Asiatic flu bug hit and all further training was cancelled. He was given a choice of staying in the Navy or being honourably discharged. He took his discharge, but it took six months before it finally happened on November 4, 1958. CYR, Charles B. Charles was born in Braseer Falls, New York, USA on April 12, 1929. He enlisted in the Army on May 21, 1952. Sergeant Charles B. Cyr was a veteran of twenty years of service in the Canadian Army. He rose to Sergeant during the Korean War. He received many medals of his efforts, including a silver jumper statue for over one hundred jumps. He also recently received a personal letter of thanks from the President of Korea. He served in many peacetime assignments, such as Germany, Egypt, and Jamaica to name a few. Sometime during his service, he switched jobs to cooking for the Army. He represented the Army through many artistic displays of food at important functions, and was given awards for his work. He retired from the Army in July 1972 and purchased a restaurant of his own at which he worked for many years. After his final retirement, he began painting landscapes and portraits in oils, at which he excelled. He was a very special, artistic man. He was a member of Port Perry Legion Branch 419 for more than twenty years. Charles passed away on June 6, 2011. CUNNINGHAM, Leo P. Leo was born on July 24, 1891 in St. Catharines, Ontario. He enlisted in the Army on September 27, 1915 and served with the 81st Battalion CEF in Canada, Britain and France during World War I. He was wounded in action in Rouen, France on October 16, 1916. He received a gunshot wound to the chest. His medals include the British War Medal and the Victory Medal. He was honourably discharged on December 31, 1917 in Toronto. He was the President of The Royal Canadian Legion in St. Catharines from 1925 to 1929 and 1934 to 1957. Leo passed away on January 1, 1958.
