185 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND EDE, George T. George was born in Epsom, Surrey, England on January 18, 1882. He enlisted in the Army in May 1916 and served with the 160 Battalion, C Company in Canada during World War I. He was discharged in April 1918 and became a member of Chesley Legion Branch 144. George passed away in 1952. EDWARDS, William Osborne William was born in Dummer Township, Ontario on July 9, 1897. He enlisted in the Army in 1918 and served with the 58th Canadian Infantry BN in France and England during World War I. He was discharged in 1919 at the end of the War. He enlisted again in 1940 and served during World War II until his discharge in 1945. William worked for Nepheline Mines for fifteen years, retiring in 1965. He was a Past President of Warsaw Legion Branch 511. He was also a Dummer Township councillor for two years and a former member of Hall’s Glen Orange Lodge. William passed away on September 10, 1979. EDWARDS, Clayton Clayton was born in Milverton, Ontario on March 15, 1894. He enlisted in the 71st Battalion on September 8, 1915 and later transferred to the 46th Battalion, CEF. Clayton served in France with the 46th Battalion during World War I. He was wounded twice and eventually was promoted to Sergeant near the end of the war. He was discharged on June 6, 1919 and was awarded the Military Medal (MM). During the Second World War, he re-enlisted but remained in Canada as a soldier in the Provost Corps. He was a member of Stratford Legion Branch 8. Clayton passed away on September 17, 1963.
