187 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND ELLERKER, Gordon P. Gordon was born in Warwick, Ontario on April 2, 1896. He enlisted in the Army in 1916 and served with the Canadian Expeditionary Forces in Canada during World War I. Before he was to ship overseas, Pte Gordon Ellerker died of the “Spanish Flu” on February 26, 1917 along with many of his fellow soldier. He is buried in Beechwood Cemetery. ELLIOTT, Angus Douglas Angus was born in Cache Bay, Ontario on February 2, 1921. He joined the Fort Gary Horse Regiment on April 24, 1941. He trained in Canada and served in the United Kingdom and Europe during World War II. He fought with Allied Army in France (D-Day) on June 6, 1945. He was discharged on January 26, 1946 at the rank of Lance/Corporal. He was awarded the Military Medal by King George VI on November 20, 1945 at Buckingham Palace. His medals include the 1939-45 Star, the France and Germany Star, the Defence Medal, the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and Ribbon and Clasp. Angus passed away on April 3, 1993. ELLERKER, Roy G. Roy was born in Forest, Ontario on February 7, 1916. He enlisted in the Air Force in 1941 and served as an airman/electrician in Ontario and in Quebec during World War II. He saw most of his duty in maintaining training aircraft for Norwegian pilots training at Toronto Island Airport (known as “Little Norway” during World War II). He was discharged in 1944. Roy passed away on February 22, 2011 and is buried in Forest, Ontario (Beechwood).
