195 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND FAWCETT, Ronald William Ronald was born in Halifax, Nova Scotia on June 1, 1933. He enlisted in the Army on August 22, 1958 and served with RCR 1 and 2RCR in London, Ontario and Soest, Germany as a Peacekeeper. Corporal Fawcett was discharged on April 1, 1975. He was awarded the Canadian Centennial Medal (1967), Canadian Decoration, Parachute Badge, Special Service Medal (Nato), and the Marksman badge. While in Soest from 1965 to 1969, Ronald played Hockey on the RCR team and helped teach young kids how to play. He has written a hard cover book regarding teaching and introducing kids to Canada’s favorite game: Hockey. Ronald has been a member of the Dorchester Legion Branch 513 for seven years. FELTON, Bruce Bruce was born in Toronto, Ontario on October 10, 1921. He joined the 408 Sq. Bomber command on August 28, 1941 and served during World War II. He was discharged on May 14, 1945. Bruce went overseas with a grade 8 education. Upon his return he spent the next seventeen years upgrading his education, receiving a degree in Business Administration. He worked in the purchasing department of the Ford Motor Company. Bruce has been the Chairman of the #408 Squadron Association, and has attended reunions in England and Edmonton. He has also been a member of The Royal Canadian Legion for 69 years. FEDERICO, Gillian A. Gillian was born in Dunfermline, Scotland on July 29, 1951. She enlisted in the Army on June 8, 1993. Padre (Maj) Federico began as unit chaplain to the Toronto Scottish Regiment as the first RC Pastoral Associate to serve with an Army Reserve unit. Then as Brigade Chaplain for 32 Canadian Brigade Group she introduced multifaith training to a chaplain team which at the time was exclusively Christian. She connected with members of the Jewish, Muslim, Hindu and Sikh communities to be better able to serve the soldiers, obtaining materials especially for those deploying overseas. She instructed at the CF Chaplain School on the development of interfaith ministry/ministry in a pluralistic environment. She led Reserve chaplain teams which were awarded the Cardinal Roy Award for Ecumenical Ministry (32 CBG) and the John Weir Foote Award for Operational Ministry (CFB Petawawa). Gillian has been a member of Major William Dwight Sharpe Legion Branch 15 and Fort York Legion Branch 165 for nine years.
