25 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND ADAMS, Edna Diane Edna was born in Tobermory, Ontario on December 12, 1917. She enlisted in the Air Force on April 15, 1943 and served with the Nursing Sister in Canada – No. 16 Service Flying Training School during World War II. After discharge on October 25, 1945, Edna had a long career in Nursing in Niagara Falls Hospital. She was a member of the Tobermory Legion Branch 290. Edna passed away on January 20, 2010. AGNEW, James James was born in Sullivan Township, Grey County on March 17, 1864. He enlisted in the Army on March 21, 1916 and served with the 1st Battalion Canadian Infantry during World War I. He saw action in Canada, England, and France, where he was killed in action on April 15, 1918. He is buried at Faubourg-d’Amiens Cemetery in Arras, France. ADAMS, Lorne E. Lorne was born in Hinesburg, Vermont on March 21, 1923 before coming to Canada with his family. He volunteered at Hamilton, Ontario on October 13, 1942 and was assigned to the CDN Corps of Signals as a Signalman. He served during World War II and was stationed in England before crossing to Normandy on D-Day. He served in France, Belgium and Germany before returning to Canada with the 1939-45 Star, the France and Germany Star, the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and clasp, and the War Medal 1939-45. Lorne was honourably discharged on March 8, 1946. He was a member of Legion Branch 51. Lorne passed away on May 25, 2008.
