37 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND ANDERSON, James Michel James was born in Woodington Muskoka on July 18, 1925. He was the son of M. Anderson (Woods) proprietor of Woodington House, Muskoka. He enlisted in the Air Force on August 19, 1945 and served as a Wireless Air Gunner in England and in Europe during World War II. James was an employee of the City of Toronto and retired to Muskoka in 1986. He was a member of Legion Branch 489 for eight years. James passed away on October 20, 1996. ANDERSON, William William was born in the District of Anderston, Motherwell, Glasgow, Scotland on December 19, 1884. He enlisted in the Army on October 13, 1915 and served overseas in France with the Canadian Mounted Rifles Regiment in World War I. He was injured by shrapnel the day before armistice, on November 10, 1918. He spent one year and a half at Brant Military Hospital. He was a tool and die maker. He was discharged on October 21, 1919. In World War II, he was asked to work on parts for the Lancaster Bomber. He saw his first jet at Malton Airport. He also worked on patterns for the Niagara Falls Generator. William married Nancy Marion Woods of Woodington Resort Muskoka. They raised four children in Muskoka. William passed away on November 7, 1966. ANDERSON, Norman Ralph Norman was born on July 17, 1921. He enrolled in the Royal Canadian Engineers of the Canadian Army (active) at Noranda, Quebec on July 21, 1941. He served in Canada, the United Kingdom and Continental Europe. He was discharged on October 29, 1945 to return to civilian life on demobilization. He was awarded the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and clasp, 1939-45 Star, France and Germany Star and the Defence Medal. He was a member of Legion Branch 176. Norman passed away on February 16, 2006.
