67 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND BARR, Robert J. Robert was born in Michigan, USA on August 9, 1925. He enlisted in the Air Force in March 1943 and served during World War II. His body was badly burned along with five crew members. Robert was killed in action on December 4, 1944 in Karlsruhe, Germany. He had remained a US citizen until his death. BARTLETT, William A. William was born in Hanna, Alberta on May 21, 1923. He enlisted in the Air Force on September 29, 1941 and served with the RAF 2nd Tactical Air Force, 34 Wing during World War II. Bill received his wings in Dunnville, Ontario at No. 6 SFTS. He was then transferred to Trenton, Ontario to become a Flying Instructor. He received more training and ended up flying for the Royal Air Force with 69 Squadron, RAF. His service areas were Canada, United Kingdom and Continental Europe. He was discharged on November 18, 1945 with the rank of Squadron Leader. He was awarded the 1939-1945 Star; France and Germany Star; Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and Clasp; and Defense Medal Bill is also an author, having written a book entitled “Stories from my Log Book”. He was a member of Kapuskasing Legion Branch 85 for over 50 years. BART, Gary E. Gary was born in Stratford, Ontario on May 5, 1942. He joined the RCAC in September 1960 and served in Canada, Europe, Cyprus and the United States during Peacetime. He was discharged on October 10, 1988. Gary has been a member of Lions Head Legion Branch 202 for nineteen years.
