91 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND BOWLBY, Harold L. “Hank” Hank was born in Middle March, Ontario on July 15, 1926. He enlisted in the Royal Canadian Air Force in 1943 and served as a Tail Gunner during World War II and was discharged after the war. He enlisted again in 1950 and served with the PPCLI as a peacekeeper and Stretcher Bearer in Korea for eighteen months before being wounded and sent to the hospital in Seoul, Korea. Upon release from the hospital he was sent home. Hank, along with nine other soldiers from the PPCLI, was chosen to attend the coronation of Queen Elizabeth in June 1953. He was discharged from service in November 1953 and went to work as a clerk at C&O Railway in St. Thomas, ON. After many years on C&O he and his wife Janet went into their own business in Port Stanley, ON. He was a member of Lord Elgin Legion Branch 41 and Last Post Legion Branch 410. Hank passed away on October 3, 2009. BOYER, Keith Sinclair Keith was born in Dunnville, Ontario on February 8, 1921. In 1923, Arthur and Frederica Boyer moved to Waterloo, Ontario with their small son Keith and it is there where sister Jean and brothers John and Bob were born. Keith went to the Alexandra School and then to the newly built Elizabeth Ziegler Public School and furthered his education at Kitchener Collegiate. He then worked in his father’s business, the Boyer Lumber Co. Ltd. As a young lad, Keith played many sports and was a Boy Scout and then became a Scout Leader. When World War II broke out, Keith tried numerous times to join up but was turned down because of his glasses which would be a problem when wearing a gas mask. The Army finally accepted after they created a glass frame and he joined the Royal Canadian Corps of Signals. Keith trained at Debert, Nova Scotia and then London, England where he lost his life in a motorcycle accident on November 6, 1943. Keith is buried at “grave 47.F.3.” Brookwood Military Cemetery, United Kingdom. BOWMAN, Percey A. Percey was born in Dundas, Ontario on October 21, 1896. He enlisted in the Army in 1917 and served with the 54th Kootenay Battalion in France and Belgium during World War I. He was discharged in 1919. Percey passed away on March 3, 1987.
