97 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND BROOKER, Kenneth W. “Ken” Cpl. Kenneth Brooker was born in Scarborough, Ontario on February 19, 1985. He enlisted in the Army on December 17, 2008. He served with the CFGS Regiment Kingston. Kenneth completed two tours to Kandahar, Afghanistan from May 2010 to December 2010; Kabul from March 2012 to November 2012 and a tour to Kuwait from April to October 2015 supporting the air force. He is still on active duty. Ken is married and has two young sons. BROPHY, Patrick Patrick was born in Port Arthur, Ontario on February 15, 1921. He served with the radar unit of the Royal Canadian Air Forces 419 Wolf Squadron Lancaster Bomber (Code L for Lanky). He served in Canada, England and the US during World War II. While serving as a Rear-Gunner with the bomber KB726 “L” for Lanky, on June 12, 1944, he flew to Northern France to attack the town’s railway yards. Shortly after crossing into France they were attacked by a Germany night-fighter and KB726 was struck by three cannon shells. The engines were hit and one struck the fuselage between the rear-turret and the mid-upper. Fuel lines were hit and caught fire. The pilot ordered the crew to bail out. Only Andy, who was mid-upper, and Pat remained. Andy died trying to save Pat, who walked away unhurt. After the war he was an air-weapons controller until his retirement in 1967. Patrick was a member of Churchill, MB Legion Branch for eight years. He passed away in August 1991. BROOKS, Alfred C. Alfred was born in Toronto, Ontario on October 30, 1922. He enlisted in the Army and served during World War II. He was discharged on September 22, 1945. He has been a member of Millbrook Legion Branch 402. Alfred passed away on March 26, 1976.
