103 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND COOK, Ross I. Ross was born in Hope Township on October 11, 1923. He enlisted in the Army with the Royal Canadian Artillery on December 9, 1932. He served in Germany and France during World War II. He was discharged on October 26, 1945 and received the France and Germany Star, the Defence Medal and the 1939-1945 Star. He was a member of the Bewdley Legion Branch 577 for 45 years. Ross passed away on September 22, 2004. CRABBE, Earlby Stafford Earlby was born in Thorold, Ontario on December 1, 1923. He enlisted in the Army on January 6, 1943 with the Hastings Prince Albert and Royal Irish. He served in the United Kingdom, Central Mediterranean and Continental Europe during World War II. He received the 1939-1945 Star, Italy Star, France and Germany Star and the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal with Clasp. After his discharge he went back to work for the Niagara Parks Services as a grounds keeper. Then he went to work for Kimberly-Clark until their operations moved to the Toronto area, after which he held many diverse positons in the Niagara Peninsula, Ontario, Winnipeg, Manitoba and City of Calgary, Alberta. He was a member of the Legion in Sunnybrook. Earlby passed away on January 24, 2017. COSTOFF, William Gordon William was born on May 27, 1925 in Browns Flats, New Brunswick. He enlisted in the Army in Chilliwack, BC on January 25, 1944. He served in Canada during World War II. He achieved the rank of Sergeant in the Army and received the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal. He was an active member and past President of the Richmond Hill Legion Branch. William passed away on July 21, 2012.
