121 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND D’ERI, Gordon Francis Gordon was born in Toronto, Ontario on October 5, 1934. He enlisted in the Army on May 30, 1951 with the Royal Canadian Artillery. He served in Continental Europe. As a Reservist when the “Korean” conflict broke out, he was in Sault Ste. Marie, ON. He hitchhiked to Toronto and tried to sign up at “Chorley” park, he was told: “come back when you grow up”. He then produced a birth certificate and applied at #6 Depot Sunny Brook and was sworn in. He was trained as a gunner and as a driver operator placed on draft, when his CO pulled him off as his mother informed that he was only 16.5 years old when he signed up. He was then placed on draft for C/E and served in the Foo position during his term. Gordon was discharged on January 21, 1954. He is a member of the Legion Branch 68. DICKSON, Bruce Walter Bruce was born on July 17, 1938 in Brantford, Ontario. He enlisted in the Air Force in June 1957. He served in Canada, the Middle East and Germany as a Peacekeeper. After leaving the CAFI in June 1985 he worked for a company called Garrett which overhauled aircraft components as a Test Technician. The company is now under Honeywell control. Bruce has been retired for twenty years. He has been a member of the Legion Branch 426 for sixty years. DEVANEY, Tom Richardson Tom was born in Montreal, Quebec on December 7, 1962. He enlisted in the Army on April 30, 1980 and took his basic training at Cornwallis, Nova Scotia. He was posted to 1CFR Chilliwack, 1Svc Battalion Calgary, CFB Shilo, 2PPCLI Winnipeg and CFSEME Borden. During his time in the Army, Tom served with the Electrical/Mechanical Engineering Branch as a Fire Control Systems Technician and worked for the Director General for Quality Assurance LAV Program, attaining the rank of Warrant Officer. Tom retired from Regular Force in 2004 and then served with 48FD Sqn 31CER (The Elgins) until January 2009. He was awarded the Canadian Forces Decoration (1). He is currently employed as a Service Manager for a HVAC.
