135 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND DYER, Robert William Robert was born on August 20, 1881, son of Robert W. and Annie Dyer of Waterloo, Ontario. He was married to Mary Dyer of Waterloo. He enlisted in the Army during World War I and was attached to the Canadian Infantry, (Western Ontario Regiment) Division: 13th Battalion. Private Robert Dyer died as a result of a cerebral hemorrhage while still in the service on October 16, 1920 and is buried at Mount Hope Cemetery in Kitchener-Waterloo, Ontario. EICHMANN, Mona Alexandra Mona was born in Kitchener, Ontario on February 19, 1958. Cpl. Mona Eichmann joined the RCMP in 1987. She was posted to Portage la Prairie Detachment upon graduation from Depot. Cpl. Eichmann transferred in 1990 to “O” Division serving Federal Policing units in Kitchener, London and the GTA. Her duties included Commercial Crime, Customs and Excise, Drug Enforcement, Federal Enforcement, VIP Security and Serious and Organized Crime. She currently serves the “O” Division Peer to Peer Coordinator. Cpl. Eichmann was deployed to several Summits and events including the Royal Visit of Queen Elizabeth II (1997). Papal Visit for John Paul II (2002), Visit of the Emperor and Empress of Japan (2009), G8/G20 Summits and Vancouver Olympics (2010). Cpl. Eichmann was promoted to Corporal in 2004. She is the recipient of the RCMP Long Service Medal and Bronze Clasp and Queen Elizabeth II Golden and Diamond Jubilee Medals. Cpl. Eichmann is the Zone B-2 Commander for RCL District B. She has been a member of the Tavistock Legion Branch 518 for twelve years. EICHMANN, Edgar Joachim Edgar was born on August 20, 1930 in Lychen, Germany, 100 kilometers west of Berlin. He moved to Canada in 1951 and worked at a variety of jobs across the country. He enlisted in the Army on January 6, 1955 and served for three years in the Canadian Army (Regular Force Canadian Guards); afterwards he worked for a Kitchener uniform rental company before joining J. M. Schneiders Inc. He was discharged on January 9, 1958. Edgar married Gertrude Achtzehnter in 1957. The couple had one daughter, Mona Alexandra. Edgar proudly served his country and greatly appreciated the support and comradeship he received as a member of The Royal Canadian Legion Fred Gies Branch 50 in Kitchener. Edgar passed away on February 7, 1989.
