137 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND ELINES, Herbert James “Herb” Herb was born on August 22, 1922 in Beeton, Ontario and moved at a young age to Newmarket, Ontario. He enlisted in the RCAF on June 25, 1942 and attended the Galt Aircraft School training as an Airframe Mechanic. He served with the RCAF – 133 Fighter, 115 Bomber Squadrons in Canada and Alaska, as an Airframe and Hydraulics Mechanic during World War II. He was honourably discharged with the rank of Leading Aircraftman (A Group) and transferred to the Reserves, General Section, Class “E” on October 31, 1945. LAC Elines was awarded the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal. Herb had the privilege of working on the Remote Manipulator System “Canadarm” for Spar Aerospace (26 years). He joined The Royal Canadian Legion, Milton Wesley Branch 426 in September 1946 where he served in many leadership roles, Branch President in 1965 and was a charter member. He was awarded Life Membership for his dedication to the Legion and his community. Herb passed away on October 10, 2010. EMOND, Earl Joseph Earl was born on December 7, 1926 in Callander, Ontario. He enlisted in the Army in January 1944 with the Algonquin Regiment, 1st Battalion, Canadian Armoured Corp. He served in Canada during World War II. He was discharged in September 1945. He married Bernice Cain from Glen Williams. Earl passed away on July 12, 1987. He was a Life Member of the Legion Branch 120 and was a Branch Steward for 25 years in Georgetown. EMMERSON, Donald Neville Donald was born in Acton, Ontario on October 13, 1940. He enlisted in the Army on March 3, 1959. He served with the Lorne Scots -Peel, Halton and Dufferin Regiment. Donald trained in mortars and Intelligence Unit of the Canadian Guards. He was honourably released on April 20, 1966. His medals include the NATO Medal for service in Germany and the United Nations Medal for service in Cyprus. After discharge Donald served with the Ontario Provincial Police Force for 33 years. He has been member of the Fergus Legion Branch 275 for seventeen years.
