169 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND GREEN, William Arthur William was born in Peterborough, England on October 11, 1897. He enlisted in the Army on November 21, 1915 and served in Belgium, France and Germany as a sniper during World War I. He served with the 11th Battalion, Occupational Army, Regiment 1st CORD, Overseas Unit 4th Battalion. He was sent to Lady Aster’s Estate in England to recover from being gassed. He had some enjoyable conversations with Lady Mary. He was discharged in September 1919. On returning home to Galt, now Cambridge, he worked at Getty & Scott’s Shoe Co. He enjoyed ceremonies and get-togethers at his Legion very much. He was a member of Galt Legion Branch 121 for seventy years. William passed away on December 23, 1990. GREEWSIDES, John Henry John was born on June 11, 1922 in Toronto, Ontario. He served in the Army during World War II in Aldershot, England. John passed away on November 23, 2000. GREENFIELD, Guyle Robert Guyle was born in Oshawa on August 9, 1941, the son of Rowena and Corporal Robert Greenfield. He enlisted with the Army on August 29, 1958. He did his training in Camp Petawawa. He served in Canada and was discharged on July 6, 1960. He married and had four children. He was a member of the Milton Wesley Legion Branch 426 in Newmarket, Ontario. Guyle passed away on January 14, 1991.
