181 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND HARRISON, Reginald William Reginald was born in Mt. Albert, Ontario on June 29, 1925. He enlisted in the Army on February 9, 1944. He served in England, Canada, France, Germany, Holland and Belgium during World War II before his discharge on August 19, 1946. He was awarded the France and Germany Star and the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal. He was made Corporal and helped liberate Holland. After the war ended, he stayed overseas for a year during occupation. He is a member of the Legion in Newmarket. HARTLEY, Robert Charles Robert was born on November 16, 1944 in Toronto, Ontario. He enlisted in the Army on November 16, 1961 with the 2nd Regiment Royal Canadian Horse Artillery. He was first posted to Winnipeg, Manitoba; he spent one winter in Rogers Pass, BC on Avalanche Control and also in Germany with NATO Forces. He also served with the 7th Toronto Artillery. Robert was discharged on December 28, 1964. He is a founding member of NATO Veterans of Canada Unit 7 Whitby, Ontario. He has been a member of the Legion Branch 112 for 26 years. HARRISON, W. B. “Ted” Ted was born in Shallow Lake, Ontario on November 22, 1924. He lied about his age and enlisted in the Army in 1940 when he was only sixteen. He was a Lance Corporal with the Princess Louise IV Dragoon Guards. He was wounded twice, first time shot in the arm and the second time hit in the legs with a hand grenade in Italy in 1943. He served in Canada and Italy during World War II. He recovered, came home in 1945 and was married on December 7, 1946. He raised four sons and one daughter. Ted passed away on July 4, 2012. He was a member of the Shallow Lake and Owen Sound Legions and had been for 67 years.
