183 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND HARVEY, Norman Joseph “Norm” Norman was born in London, Ontario on April 1, 1940. He enlisted in the Air Force on June 11, 1963. Sergeant Harvey served as a Reservist in Canada with 2420 SQN and was discharged on January 30, 1964. Norm was employed by Supertest Petroleum Company in London, ON for four years and joined the Moore Business Forms where he was employed for 37 years before retiring in 2000. He has been a member of Legion Branch 285 for 28 years. Norm and his wife Marie currently reside in Calgary, Alberta. HASTINGS, Gerrond S. “Gerry” Gerry was born in Toronto, Ontario on March 21, 1934. He enlisted in the Army on January 21, 1951 with the Royal Canadian Ordnance Corp. He served in various units across Canada as well as Cyrus, Egypt and Europe as a Peacekeeper. He was discharged on August 26, 1976. He has four children. After his service, he worked in several manufacturing companies in Cambridge, Ontario. He is enjoying retirement after work at Cambridge Memorial Hospital. HASTIE, Alexander S. Alexander was born on April 30, 1890 in Molseworth, Ontario. He enlisted in the Army in 1914 and served in World War I with the 161st Battalion at Vimy Ridge. Alex was wounded; he was shot in his left foot. He was discharged from the Army in 1918. In 1921, he opened a tobacco and Billiard shop in Durham which operated until 1960. He was married in 1923 to Anne Epworth and had five children. Alex passed away on April 9, 1967. He was a member of Legion Branch 308.
