185 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND HAWKSHAW, Harold Thomas Harold was born on November 19, 1925 in Oshawa, Ontario. He enlisted in the Army on November 28, 1943 with the Cameron Highlanders of Ottawa. He served in Belgium, Holland, Germany during World War II. Harold was discharged on August 3, 1946. HEALEY, Peter Peter was born on June 30, 1924 in London, England. He volunteered for Air Crew in the British RAF in 1943, and was accepted as a pilot, navigator, or bomb aimer. Due to the high losses of Air Gunners, he was re-mustered to Air Gunner training. He completed Air Gunner training in Egypt, North Africa and joined an Air Crew in Palestine where he joined 40 Squadron, #5 Group Bomber Command in Italy. He flew Rear Gunner in Wellingtons, B24 Liberators, and Lancasters. They supported the ground troops with their advance against the Germans up the leg of Italy. They flew about twenty operations and survived to be prepared to operate against Japan, but the big bomb was dropped. They were not required for further service so he returned to civilian life in 1947. He was awarded the Italy Star and General Service Medals. He is a member of Legion Branch 67 in Lindsay, Ontario. HAYDOCK, Alfred Alfred was born in Dungannon, Ireland on February 19, 1905. He enlisted on July 9, 1940 in the Army in World War II. He served with the Central Medical Store, RCA in Canada during World War II. He was discharged on January 8, 1941. From 1941 to 1945, he was with the Department of Munitions and Supply. Alfred passed away on October 5, 1989 and was a member of Beaverton, Weston and Pembroke Legion Branches for a total 35 years.
