195 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND HILTS, William Archie Archie was born in Coe Hill, Ontario on April 26, 1921. At the age of twenty he volunteered for military duty in July 1941. He was assigned to the Artillery and sent to Manitoba for training during World War II. He accompanied the Artillery Regiment to the UK for further training. He was wounded in the left knee shortly after his arrival to the UK. It is believed that the wound was received from shrapnel while on range practice. He spent a long time in hospital recovering and now was physically unable to meet the rigorous military standards. He was released in October 1942. He was married to Wilma and raised a family. He resided and worked in L’Amable and Coe Hill. William passed away on June 14, 1993. He was a member of the Apsley Legion Branch 381. HILTZ, William Pearson William was born in Moncton, New Brunswick on October 24, 1924. He enlisted in the Army on September 13, 1943 in Hamilton, Ontario and served in Canada, the United Kingdom, Central Mediterranean and Continental Europe during World War II. He was honourably discharged on August 8, 1948. He was awarded the Italy, France and Germany Star and the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal. William passed away on October 18, 1999 in Hamilton, Ontario. HILTZ, Robert William Robert was born in Fortier Settlement, New Ross, NS on July 27, 1894. He enlisted in the Army and served during World War I with the Canadian Infantry, Nova Scotia Regiment, Division 25th Battalion. Robert was killed in action on October 21, 1918 in Bucquoy, France.
