199 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND HOARE, Reginald Maurice Reginald was born on August 18, 1915 in Georgetown, Ontario. He enlisted in the Army on July 6, 1942 with the Canadian Infantry Corps – Queen’s York Rifles then was transferred to Lincoln and Welland Regiment. He served in England and Continental Europe during World War II. He was discharged on January 1, 1946. He was a member of the Legion Branch 197 Acton for twenty years. Reginald passed away on October 8, 1969. HODGINS, Allan Richard Allan was born in Guelph, Ontario on June 8, 1919. He enlisted in the Navy in 1940 and served on the High Seas during World War II. Allan served on the Naval Ship Prince Henry as a gunner. Upon returning to civilian life in 1945, he served as President of Legion Branch 84 for 26 years and was a member for forty years. He was awarded “The Meritorious Service Medal”. In 1989, he was the recipient of the community Volunteer Award of Southern Ontario. He amassed 34 years of dedicated volunteer service to the physically and developmentally handicapped. He sat on the senior advisory board for South Essex Community Council and the steering committee for elder abuse. He was also a board member of the emergency disaster evacuation for Leamington Hospital. He sat on a committee to provide Christmas gifts to sick children. He also provided free income tax to seniors. He made an exceptional contribution to Social Services in the Province of Ontario. Allan passed away on December 31, 1995. HOBBS, Harold Wallace Harold was born in Welland, Ontario on June 12, 1913. He enlisted in the Army on July 1, 1940 with the 48th Highlanders/3rd Canadian Pioneer Coy. He signed up on Kirkland Lake, Ontario and was stationed at Camp Borden, Ontario. He served during World War II in England, North Africa and Italy, Ortona. He was awarded the 1939-1945 Star, the Italy Star, the Defence Medal, the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and Clasp, the War Medal 1939-1945 and the General Service Badge. After his discharge in 1944, he ran a shoe repair business from 1946 to 1961 and later he was a security guard with the Canadian Core Commissioners Bureau of Statistics in Ottawa. Harold passed away on May 19, 1978.
