41 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND BAUER, Wilfred David Wilfred was born on November 28, 1894, son of Aloyisius Bauer and Magdalena (Kuntz) of Waterloo, Ontario. He enlisted in the Army during World War I and was attached to the Canadian Field Artillery, Division: 25th Battalion. Lieutenant Wilfred Bauer was killed in service on October 11, 1918 and is buried at Mount Hope Cemetery in Kitchener-Waterloo, Ontario. BELL, Maurice John Maurice was born on December 10, 1913 in Flos Township near Craighurst, Ontario. He enlisted in the Royal Canadian Army Medical Corps on December 27, 1943. He left his career as a truck driver to join the Army. He served in England, Holland, Belgium, France and Germany during World War II. Maurice received the 1939-1945 Star, the France and Germany Star and the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and Clasp. Maurice was discharged from the Army on March 5, 1946 and returned to live in Elmvale, Ontario where he resumed his career as a truck driver. Maurice was a very quiet, friendly man and lived his life for his family. He died a very young man on February 19, 1965 in his 52nd year. He was a member of Elmvale District legion Branch 562 for nineteen years. BELL, Joseph W. Joseph was born in Aaron Township, Chesley, Ontario on January 20, 1898. Joseph enlisted in the Army on February 11, 1916 and served in England, France and Canada during World War I with the 160th Bruce Battalion. He returned to Canada in 1919 where he married Elizabeth to whom he was engaged to for five years. They raised seven children. He served as the Veterans Guard from 1940 to 1946. After World War II, he returned to farming and then in 1960 he retired to Elmwood. He was a member of the Hanover Legion Branch.
