57 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND BOSCH, Cyndi Cyndi was born in Toronto, Ontario on July 16, 1958. She enlisted in the Air Force in September 1977. Private Bosch served in Canada as a reservist and was discharged in 2001 after 24 years. She raised four sons while in service. Cyndi has been a member of the Last Post Legion Branch 410 for ten years. BOWERMAN, Melvin R. Melvin was born in Tehkummah on Manitoulin Island, Ontario on March 20, 1919. He was drafted during World War II and called to basic training under NRMA in Brantford on February 19, 1942. He completed his training and then posted to RCA at Camp Borden and later Petawawa. He enlisted to General Service on August 11, 1942. He was confirmed Bdr on January 1, 1943; reverted to Bdr on January 29, 1943; overseas on August 25, 1943; A/L Sgt on October 18, 1943. Melvin was injured on duty and hospitalized on May 30, 1944. He returned to Canada to T.O.R.S. #2 D.D. on August 20, 1944; C.P.H.H. on September 12, 1944; and C.S.H. on September 14, 1944. His wound was on the right arm and he had nerve, bone and muscle damage. He was discharged on May 30, 1944 and was awarded the Defence Medal, the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and Clasp and the War Medal 1939-1945. After his stays at the hospital which spanned for two years; he stayed in Toronto and worked for Good Year for over thirty years. He retired back to Tehkummah in 1977. He was a member of the Legion Branch 177 in Little Current for 29 years. Melvin passed away on August 14, 2007. BOUCOCK, John Thomas John was born in Merritton, Ontario on December 9, 1878. He enlisted in the Army on November 11, 1915 and served with the Canadian Calvary Machine Gun Squadron which consisted of five men. He served in France, England and Belgium during World War I. He was discharged on July 12, 1919. John worked at the Interlakes Paper Mill in Merritton before and after the war. While at war, he lost three children to the flu epidemic. John retired in 1942 from the mill. He received the 1914-1915 Star and the Victory Medal and Clasp. John passed away on February 15, 1957.
