65 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND BRODRICK, Jack Douglas Jack was born on November 19, 1904 in London, Ontario. He received his education in Toronto when moving there with his family. A member of the Life Underwriters Association, he worked for Manufacturers Life Insurance Company for 47 years, working in Saskatoon, Regina, London and Toronto. He enlisted in the RCAF at the age of 36 on October 31, 1941 and trained at Trenton, Ontario. By January 1942 he had obtained the rank of Flying Officer and began his duties as recruitment officer, going as far north as Kirkland Lake. He returned to Centralia in February 1943 as Training Wing Adjutant. His posting overseas came through and by October 1943 he was in England. His Squadron #442 moved to St. Croixsur-Mer nine days after D-Day and was among the first to arrive at Normandy to set up a base. He served overseas in England and France until March 1945. He returned to civilian life in October 1945, having served as Flight Lieutenant, resuming his job with Manufacturers Life in London, ON. Jack passed away on September 21, 1974. BROSSEAU, David David was born on December 25, 1898 in Chelmsford. David enlisted in the Army on April 7, 1916 in Sturgeon Falls, Ontario. He served in World War I with the 163rd Battalion CEF and 87th Battalion in Bermuda and France. After enlisting in the Infantry, he headed overseas to France to fight at the front. On August 18, 1918 he was wounded at Amiens-shot twice in the left shoulder. He was granted a Good Conduct Badge and revived the British War and Victory Medals. David was released from service upon demobilization on January 21, 1919. He returned to Larchwood to resume civilian life. BROOKS-CHURCH (ROY), Aline Aline was born in North Bay, Ontario on February 16, 1927. She joined the RCAF in 1952, receiving her training in Moncton, NB and was stationed there. She served during the Cold War, decoding Morse messages from allied ships and planes, their content often highly classified. While Aline was training in Clinton in 1953 she met Jack Brooks. They were married in 1954. Aline was discharged in 1955 after the birth of their daughter Linda. She later worked successfully in the fashion industry. She was also a member of the Air Force Associations 422 and 406 Wing North Bay. She was an active member of the North Bay Legion Branch 23 from 1981 to 2000 and served on the executive. In 1999 Aline moved to the Grey Bruce area to be closer to her daughter. Aline passed away on March 16, 2016 in Southampton.
