85 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND CAMPBELL, Dugald Angus Dugald was born on February 25, 1895 in McDougald Township, Parry Sound, Ontario. He enlisted in the Army on November 6, 1917 and served with the 1st Depot Battalion, 1st Central Ontario Regiment in England and France. He was in the Engineering Corps during World War I and was discharged on July 11, 1919 after the demobilization. After returning, he and his brother bought a farm but soon after returned to mining in Amos, Quebec. Dugald’s last contact with family was February 1942. CARFAGNINI, Giuseppe Clemente “Joe” Joe was born in North Bay, Ontario on April 25, 1914. He enlisted in the Air Force on September 30, 1942 during World War II. LAC Carfagnini was in the entertainment Corp; he played trumpet entertaining and thereby raising money for the War Effort – the 6th Victory Loan Drive. He was honourably released on September 19, 1945 and transferred to reserve, General Section, Class B in 1945. He received the Volunteer Service Medal and the War Medal. Joe passed away on January 23, 1987. CAMPBELL, John Arthur “Art” John was born on January 14, 1897 in McDougald Township, Parry Sound, Ontario. John enlisted in the Army on April 29, 1918 and was a Private during World War I with the 1st Battalion Central Ontario Regiment. He served in England and France. A medical condition led to him being discharged on March 19, 1919. He farmed the rest of his life in New Liskeard. While working in his field he was struck by lightning and was killed on May 23, 1964 at 67.
