93 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND CHABOREK, Stephen Stephen was born in the Ukraine on January 8, 1922. He enlisted in the Navy in 1942 and served on Kokawee, Buctouch and Barrie, three ships. He served on the North Atlantic and Pacific during World War II as a Leading Radar Seaman. He was discharged from the Navy in 1945. He has been a member of the Legion Branch 143 for 31 years. CHABOT, Orlando Orad Orlando was born on October 28, 1922 in St. Sabine Bellechasse, Quebec. He enlisted in the Army in 1944 during World War II with the Royal 22nd Regiment (Vandoos) and served in Canada. Orlando held the rank of Private and was still in training when the war ended. He was discharged in 1945. He went back to civilian life and worked for a local forestry company and then went on to run his own business. Orlando passed away on January 24, 1991. CHABOREK, Walter Walter was born in East Galicia, Ukraine on December 9, 1925. He enlisted in the Navy on June 15, 1943 and served in Canada and on the High Seas during World War II. He joined the Royal Canadian Navy Volunteer Reserve when he was seventeen wanting to join his two brothers, Steve and John who were already enlisted in the Navy. He began his training in Windsor at the HMCS Hunter and then in Montreal. He served aboard mostly Frigates and Corvettes most notably the Dunvegan and Joliette working as a Signalman. They were involved in the capture and escort of a German U boat. He was discharged on November 16, 1945. After serving his country, Walter worked for Canada Post where he retired after 35 years. Walter passed away on February 23, 2008.
