95 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND CHABOT, Rolland Emilien Rolland was born in St. Sabine Bellechasse, Quebec on July 26, 1921. He enlisted in the Army in 1942 during World War II with the Royal 22nd Regiment (Vandoos). He served as Corporal in Canada, England, France and Holland. He was discharged in 1946 and received the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and Clasp, the 19391945 Star, the France and Germany Star, the War Medal and Defence Medal. Upon, his retirement from the Army, Rolland worked for the Department of Highways Ontario for many years and then moved to Windsor, Ontario where he worked for Chrysler Corp. where he retired. Rolland passed away March 18, 1995. CHRISTMANN, Jon Brent Jon was born in Southampton, Ontario on September 21, 1954. He enlisted in the Canadian Army in April 1974. He served in Canada as a Peacekeeper and was discharged in July 1976. He has been a member of the Legion Branch 340 Port Elgin and for 39 years. CHAMBERLAIN, Robert S. Robert was born in St. Thomas, Ontario on August 31, 1920. He enlisted in the Army on December 16, 1942. He enlisted in the Elgin Regiment (1944) and was with the Army Cadets Elgins (1937). He was an honourary Lieutenant-Colonel of the Elgin Regiment for fifteen years; this unit has been ‘rebadged’ as 31 Combat Engineer Regiment (The Elgins). Bob joined the Perth Regiment and served with distinction overseas during World War II. At age 22, he was the youngest major in the Canadian Army. He was decorated with the Military Cross on January 7, 1942 for “conspicuous gallantry in the face of enemy”. He was also decorated with the 1939-1945 Star, the Italian Star, the France and Germany Star, the Defence Medal, the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal, the Victory Medal, the 125th Anniversary Medal, the Golden Jubilee Medal, the Efficiency Decoration-Long Service pre-war and the Canadian Forces Decoration-Civil Defence. Robert was discharged on March 27, 1946. After the war, Bob returned to private life in St. Thomas, Ontario. Bob was a member of Legion Branch 41. Robert passed away on August 3, 2002.
