113 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND CHIPPIOR, Stanley Philip Stanley was born in Wilno, Ontario on September 8, 1922. He enlisted in the Army and served with the Highland Light Infantry of Canada (RC Engineers) duringWorld War II. His brother Florian Frank Chippior also served in the Highland Light Infantry of Canada and died at the age of 23. Stanley travelled and fought through France, Belgium and Holland. He served in this part of the war that liberated Holland from the Germans. While serving in Holland he was housed with a Dutch family with whom he kept in touch with, until his passing. He was discharged in 1946. For his service he was awarded: the 1939-1945 Star, the France and Germany Star, Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and Clasp and the War Medal 1939-1945. He was a fiftyyear Royal Canadian Legion member of Barry’s Bay Branch 406. Stanley passed away on June 14, 2013. CLARK, Thomas William Thomas was born in Brockville, Ontario on December 23, 1926. He enlisted in the Army in December 1943 with the RCASC. He served five years with the 705 Squadron RCA Cadets as Flt. Lt. Supplies. He served in Canada, Korea and Gaza Strip. He received the Canadian Volunteer Medal, the War Medal 1939-1945, the Korean Medal, the Peace Medal, UN Emergency Force, Medal Gaza and the Canadian Force Decoration. He was discharged in 1967. He retired to Elliot Lake until his passing on April 18, 2018. He was a member of The Royal Canadian Legion Branch 561 in Elliot Lake for seventy years. CHISHOLM, John Alexander John was born in Acton, Ontario on November 23, 1919. He enlisted in the Army in June 1940. He served during World War II with the Highland Light Infantry and was badly burned. He was discharged on August 2, 1945 having served in the United Kingdom and Continental Europe. John received the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal with Clasp. Upon his return, he raised a son and three daughters. He was a member of The Royal Canadian Legion Branch 197, Acton. John passed away in August 1986.
