115 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND CLARKE, Albert Edward Albert was born in Birmingham, England in 1868. He served in South Africa and England during the Boer War. Albert passed away on May 16, 1965. COLENUTT, David Jason David was born in Essex, Ontario on February 24, 1982. In July 2000, he joined the Windsor Regiment in Windsor, Ontario. He served from 2000 to 2006 then joined the Regular Force in 2006. He served as an AVN Tech from 2006 to 2008 when he returned to the Windsor Regiment. In November 2008 he was accepted into the Regular Force as a Geo Tech and trained at Algonquin College fromAugust 2009 to May 2011. He was posted to MCE in Ottawa until June 2013. He was transferred to Geo Sp Sqn 2 TP as a Surveyor. He was promoted to Master Corporal in December 2013 and continued to serve in Survey until April 2014 when he was transferred to Headquarters. He worked in HQ from April 2014 to May 2015 then returned to Survey Section and deployed on survey missions across Canada. He served in Kuwait, Operation Impact from February 2016 to April 2016. When he was released from the Regular Force in January 2017 he joined 33CER as GST Commander. He currently divides his time between DLSCPM and 33CER as fulltime Reservist. He received the Canadian Forces’ Decoration and GSM Exp. CLAYFIELD, Benjamin A. Benjamin was born in Berlin, Ontario on December 10, 1891 to Benjamin Thomas Clayfield and Caroline (Struck). He had one sister, Elizabeth. He joined the 108th Regiment in 1914. Benjamin volunteered to go overseas and was transferred to the 34th Battalion. A farewell party was organized to be held on a Saturday (October 9) afternoon on Brubacher Street in Berlin (Kitchener) with professional musicians and artists on hand to entertain the crowd. Benjamin was presented with a pair of gold cufflinks in remembrance of his many friends and family who wished him well. He sailed for Europe the following Saturday on October 15, 1915 on board the SS California. During his time overseas, Benjamin met and married Dorothy Mae Roe in 1917 in England. The couple returned to Waterloo in early 1919 when Benjamin was discharged from the war as Private. They had three children: Donald, Jack and Raymond. Benjamin was a Life Member of The Royal Canadian Legion and finished his Legion service at Branch 530 Waterloo. His name is listed on Plaque #2 of the Legion’s Veteran Memorial Wall at the Waterloo Legion. Benjamin died on October 6, 1981 and he is buried in Mount Hope Cemetery in Waterloo.
