117 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND COLLIN, Jack Trussell Dalgetty Jack was born in Berwick, Scotland on April 9, 1918. He enlisted in the Army on June 17, 1940 with the Queens Own Rifles of Canada. Rifleman Jack Trussell Dalgetty Collin was killed in action on July 4, 1944 near the town of Marcelet about one kilometer east of the Carpiquet Airport which was a key objective for the Canadians. Jack is buried in Beny-Sur-Mer Canadian War Cemetery. He lived in Richmond Hill when he enlisted and listed his trade as farmer and electrician’s helper. At the time of his death his mother Mrs. Anne Collin was still living in Richmond Hill. His wife Kathleen Rosina Collin lived in Croydon, England. Jack’s name is inscribed on the cenotaph in Richmond Hill. CONKLIN, Frederick Wallace Frederick was born in Salt Fleet Township, Wentworth County on November 15, 1922. He enlisted in the Army on January 19, 1942 and served in Canada during World War II. He was discharged on March 4, 1945. Frederick married Letta Latimer and had five children. He worked at LCBO until retirement. Frederick was a member of The Royal Canadian Legion Branch 385 in Aurora for 63 years before his passing on April 11, 2002. CONDON, Julia “Diane” Diane was born in Manchester, England on May 5, 1942 and immigrated to Canada in July 1948. She became a Canadian citizen in 1963, after having joined the Royal Canadian Naval Reserves in 1960. She served as a communicator and on HMCS Star and HMCS Nonsuch until her discharge in 1968. She is a loyal member of The Royal Canadian Legion with 33 years of service and has held the offices of President (ten years), Zone Commander (two years), Deputy District Commander (two years) and is currently the District Commander for District B, Ontario. She has been awarded her Life Membership and the MSM. Diane is a member of Branch 479, Niagara Falls, Ontario.
