133 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND DAVID, Cecil Westley Cecil was born on April 29, 1899 in London, Ontario. He served in World War I and World War II. He first enlisted at London, Ontario on September 22, 1916 to serve with the Canadian Expeditionary Forces in England and France with the 1st Battalion Canadian Engineers. Eventually, he was discharged on May 17, 1919 at the rank of Sapper. During the period of August 7, 1940 to June 20, 1941 he was anActive Militia member serving with 2/7th Field Company, Royal Canadian Engineers (Reserve) CA. At the age of 43, he enlisted again on June 2, 1942 to serve with the Canadian Army (Active) as a member of Veteran Guard of Canada. He was discharged on November 16, 1945 at the rank of Private. He had been awarded the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal. Cecil passed away on June 15, 1971 at the age of 72. DAVIDSON, William “John” John was born inWest Williams, Middlesex, Ontario in 1887. He moved to Oak Park, Illinois. He joined the Army in 1917 and served during World War I. John passed away in 1958 in a government hospital and is buried with his parents at Pinehill Cemetery in Thedford, Ontario. DAVID, Wesley Robert Wesley was born on August 9, 1925 in London, Ontario. Prior to enlisting in the Canadian Army (Active) on April 27, 1944, he served as a reservist with the 7th Field Company of the Royal Canadian Engineers(R). After his training, he was transferred to the Royal Canadian Artillery serving in Canada, England, France, Germany and Holland. While in Holland, as a member of the 4th Canadian Headquarters War Material Recce Team, they occupied the house that was used as the Headquarters for the German SS. His medals include the France and Germany Star, the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal with Clasp and the War Medal 1939-1945. Wesley was discharged on August 10, 1946 at #1 District Depot London, Ontario at the rank of Gunner. He passed away on May 23, 2000. Wesley’s brother Cecil also served during World War II and his dad Cecil Westley served in WWI and WWII.
