157 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND ENRIGHT (DAHL), Helen Emily Helen was born in Sudbury, Ontario on August 25, 1921. She moved to Kapuskasing as a young girl in 1929. She attended Diamond Jubilee Public School and Kapuskasing District High School. She was employed by Spruce Falls Pulp and Paper Company, until she joined the service. She enlisted in the RCAF –Women’s Division on June 26, 1942. Helen served in Canada and England as Leading Aircraft Woman during World War II. She worked in Administration on the base, maintaining personnel files and was stationed at Linton on Ouse, England. She was discharged on December 17, 1945 and received the Defence Medal, the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal with Clasp and the War Medal 1939-1945. She returned to Kapuskasing after the war and married in 1945 in Renfrew, Ontario. She worked as a court stenographer and later for the Kapuskasing High School Board until her retirement. She then moved to Sarnia, Ontario. Helen passed away on January 5, 2000. She was a Royal Canadian Legion member of Branch 85 Kaspuskasing for over twenty years. EVANS, Frank Edward Frank was born in Picton, Ontario on April 15, 1941. He served in both the Air Force and the Army. He served in Holland (Afcent) and Germany (AWACS Program) during the Cold War and many Canadian Air Force Bases (Cold Lake, Downsview, Trenton and CFB Toronto), Hasty and Prince Edward Regiment in Picton from 1958 to 1962 and Belleville from 1987 to 1996. Frank was discharged on April 15, 1996. He is an eight-year member of The Royal Canadian Legion in Picton. He currently resides in Bloomfield, ON and Winnipeg, MB. ERSKINE, Leonard Simpson Leonard was born in London, Ontario on August 4, 1900. He enlisted in the Army in 1939 and served at Camp Borden as a mechanic readying tanks for service overseas. He served in England, France, and Holland during World War II and received a Mention in Dispatches on June 21, 1945 for gallantry in service. He was with the 1st Hussars throughout the war and was discharged in 1945. After the war, he resumed his trade as an auto mechanic until he retired. Leonard passed away on April 11, 1979.
