171 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND FISHER, Robert W. “Bob” Bob was born in Hay Township (Zurich), Ontario on July 8, 1935. He joined the RCD on December 23, 1953. On return from Germany in 1959, he rebadged to 8CH. He attended the 1st Canadian Helicopter observer course. He was selected to the 1st Armed Corp Weapons Inspection team (ITG). He was qualified as a demolition/bomb disposal with the RCAF and trained in 40-foot rescue boat op with the RCAF in Trenton. He was Range Control Officer at Meaford Tank Range at the time of base closing. He was posted to civilian authorities to clear ice jams to prevent flooding in the Claclsburg/Thornbury areas. His last four years of service was RMS at CFB Ipperwash. On release, he returned to Zurich. Bob has five children. His overlapping positions/jobs in civilian life included: business partner, President CofC, deputy fire chief, councillor, reeve/mayor and warden of Huron County and food and meat inspector with the Ontario Ministry of Agriculture and Food. He retired at the age of 72. Bob is a forty-year member of The Royal Canadian Legion Grand Bend Branch 498. FISHER, Samantha Samantha was born on November 24, 1993 in Burlington, Ontario. Captain Samantha Fisher joined the CF and the ROTP program on July 20, 2011. She attended Queen’s University and graduated with a degree in nursing in 2016. She is presently stationed at 4 Wing Cold Lake, Alberta. She completed training in air medical evacuation, waiting for transfer to the Air Evac unit in Trenton, Ontario. FISHER, Robert W. Robert was born in Calgary, Alberta on October 22, 1986. He enlisted on August 27, 2008 joining the 1st Combat Engineers in Edmonton, Alberta. He served in Afghanistan and received the South East Asian Campaign Medal. On return to Canada, he was deployed to operation Podium at the 2010 Olympics. He was discharged on August 27, 2013. Robert has three children and is a tradesman (carpenter). He presently lives in Edmonton, Alberta.
