51 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND BARR, Robert William Robert was born in North Bay, Ontario on December 30, 1947. He enlisted in the Navy in September 1965 and served on the HMCS Saguenay. He served on the High Seas until being discharged in August 1968. After serving, he entered tech school and began working in the computer industry until his retirement in 2008. He is a twelve-year member of The Royal Canadian Legion Branch 638 Kanata. BASAR, Mario Mario was born in Zagreb, Croatia on August 15, 1968. He enlisted in the Army in January 1986 and served in Canada, Denmark and Germany with the 21 Windsor Svc BN MP Sect. He was discharged in January 1995. He was involved in the Ipperwash Crisis in September 1990 with OPP Patrol/Enforcement/Surveillance. FromApril 1991 to December 1995 he was employed with Brink’s Canada as Armed Guard/ATM Tech, from February 1997 to May 2010 he was a Correctional Officer, he was Commissionaire CBSA Immigration Cells from April 2007 to January 2017 and an MTO Transportation Enforcement Officer from May 2010 to present. He volunteered with Windsor/Essex Crime Stoppers and coordinated and participated in Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics from 1988 to the present. He is a fourteen year Royal Canadian Legion member of the Belle River Legion Branch 399, where he also served as an executive member. BARTON, Arthur Lloyd Arthur was born in Brantford, Ontario on November 29, 1924. He enlisted in the Army on November 16, 1943 with the Regina Rifles. He served in Canada, the United Kingdom and Continental Europe as Private during World War II. Arthur was wounded at the Leopold Canal when he stood up to see what was going on when a grenade exploded and was severely wounded in his legs. He was transferred to England. Upon recovery, he was returned to his unit. He returned to Canada (in Mt. Hope, Ontario) to work for his father in the Auto Repair Business. He received the 1939-1945 Star, France and Germany Star, the War Medal 1939-1945 and the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and Clasp. He opened up his own GM Dealership in the early 1950’s when his dealership folded. Arthur worked for other repair depots in Mount Hope.
