57 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND BEAUDOIN, Timothy Lawrence “Tim” Tim was born in Orillia, Ontario on January 19, 1963. He grew up in Coldwater, Ontario and joined the Canadian Forces in 1984 as an Aero Engine Technician. He was posted to CFB Cold Lake following his apprentice training at CFB Borden, Ontario; he first worked in the F404 engine bay overhauling engines for the CF18 Hornet. In 1991, he was promoted to Master Corporal and transferred to the 441 Silver Foxes, a CF18 Tactical Fighter Squadron. In 1997, the Air trade amalgamation took place and he became an Aviation Technician (AVN Tech). His career came full circle in 1997 when he was posted to Borden as an instructor. Tim retired from the military in 2004 and became a contractor administering courseware for the AVN Tech trade. During his career, he had the opportunity to travel around the world, has received three Commandant Commendations and was serviceman of the year in 1992. BEEBY, Thomas Sydney “Tom” Tom was born in Chingford, Essex, England on October 29, 1918. He attended Vaughan Rd. Collegiate after Forest Hill School in North York. He was active in Young People’s and Boy Scouts at St. Timothy’s Anglican Church. Tom worked as a clerk for the Royal Bank from January 1936 to August 1937, then as Letter Carrier for Canada Post from August 1937 to May 1941. He studied Diesel Mechanics through correspondence course from 1936 to 1938 and attended Toronto Technical School from 1938 to 1940, completing courses in Woodworking and Motor Mechanics. He married Elizabeth Frances Pescod on November 11, 1939 and their son Thomas Robert was born in 1940. He enlisted on April 14, 1942 with the 48th Highlanders in Toronto, residing at 651 Bedford Park Avenue, probably with parents George and Eunice who resided at same address with his half-sister Elizabeth. Tom was killed on January 21, 1945 while serving with the RCASC, attached to the Lake Superior Regiment (Motorized). He is interred at Groesbeek Canadian War Cemetery, Netherlands. BEAUDOIN, Wanda Gail Wanda was born in Orillia, Ontario on February 20, 1957. She joined the Canadian Forces in 1974 as a Photographic Technician, an Air Force occupation at the time. She served a total of 41 years in that trade, including 27 in the Regular Force and 14 with the Air Reserves. She was posted to the CF Photographic Unit in Ottawa; to Cold Lake, Alberta, in the fighter jets environment; Tunney’s Pasture in Ottawa, with the Directorate of Imagery Exploitation, an intelligence organization; and finally to CFB Borden where she contributed to the training of CF Photo Techs – later renamed Imagery Technicians. She had the opportunity to travel several times to the US for speciality photographic training. A highlight of her photo career was capturing the first images of live air-to-air missile firing from Canadian Forces CF-18s over the Gulf of Mexico during exercise Combat Archer 1987. She enjoys retirement from the CF since 2015 in her hometown of Coldwater.
