79 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND BOWMAN, Edward Max Edward was born on November 20, 1917 in Kitchener, Ontario to Allan Gieb Bowman and Dora (Tuchlinsky). He had three brothers and four sisters. Edward went to King Edward Public School and then to Kitchener andWaterloo Technical College as well as attending night school for woodworking training. He was also involved with Wolf Cub Packs and enjoyed taking them on camping trips. Before enlisting, Edward worked at Forsythe Limited as a shirt cutter. He enlisted on September 23, 1940 with the Royal Canadian Air Force and earned the rank of Sergeant with the 1164 Heavy Conversion Unit. On January 28, 1945 the Halifax aircraft MK3 LL576 that he was in crashed three miles west of Pateley Bridge in England. Sergeant Bowman is buried in section G, row F, grave 15 at Harrogate (Stonefall) Cemetery inYorkshire, UK. He is gratefully remembered today as a “Son of Waterloo” and his picture hangs on the Memorial Wall in the City Hall in Waterloo, Ontario. BRADLEY, Daryl Robert Daryl was born on August 13, 1967 in St. Catharines, Ontario. He joined the Army in December 1989 and upon completion of communications training in Kingston, was posted to 1st Canadian Division Headquarters and Signal Regiment (1 CDHSR) at CFB Kingston. He became a Corporal and was an RRB detachment commander in 1994 when he deployed with the remainder of his Regiment on UN Peacekeeping duties to the country of Rwanda inAfrica during the height of the country’s genocide. Daryl was discharged from the Army in July 1995. He returned home to Thorold and is the father of three great kids. BOYLE, Frank Stewart Frank was born in Paisley, Ontario on March 9, 1885. He was employed at the Imperial Hotel in Tillsonburg for three years when he decided to enlist in the Army one day before Christmas in 1915. Frank was considered one of the best marksmen in the Battalion and served as a sniper. Private Boyle was killed in action at Regina Trench in Courcelette, France on October 25, 1916 at age 31.
