Military Service Recognition Book

7 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND A MESSAGE FROMTHE CHAIRMAN It is an honour and a privilege to bring you greetings and introduce you to Volume V1 of our annual Military Service Recognition Book Program. Our mission in the Royal Canadian Legion is to serve Veterans, which includes serving military and RCMP members and their families, to promote Remembrance, and to serve our communities and our country. It is also our duty to perpetuate the memory and deeds of the fallen and to pass on to their families and descendants the traditions for which they stand. Recognition and Remembrance are small ways we can show that their sacrifices are not forgotten. We do this through the annual publication of our MSRB in fulfilling our mission and duty to our Veterans. Through our first six publications, we have been able to recognize over 4200 of those who have served and are serving in our Canadian Armed Forces. Through this program, we have also raised much needed funds to assist in providing assistance to our Veterans through various Veteran Transition programs supported by Ontario Command. The success of our program during our first six years would not have been possible if it were not for the combined support, cooperation and dedication of our Branches, Zones, Districts, and Command in promoting our program on a regular basis to our membership, our Veterans, and to the families of Veterans throughout Ontario Command. My sincere thanks and appreciation to each and every-one involved for the dedication given towards the success of our very important program. Keep up the good work in promoting our program and obtaining Veteran submissions! Special thanks to our two hard-working coordinators, Carolyn McCaul and Mary Ann Goheen. Their dedication towards our program has been outstanding. Also, a special thanks for all of the support we have received from our staff at Ontario Command, our Provincial President, Garry Pond, members of our Ladies Auxiliary and all of my fellow Senior Elected Officers of Ontario Command. Thank You as well to our publisher Fenety Marketing and all of their staff for all of their support, cooperation and understanding in making our first six books the success that they have been. It is only through everyone’s efforts that we will continue to be successful in telling the story about our Veterans in communities across Ontario. It has been both a privilege and an honour to have served you as Chairman of this great Veterans program since its inception in 2013.
