143 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND EASEY, Arthur John Arthur was born on February 20, 1885, in London, England. He enlisted in the Army on March 6, 1916 with CEF Oxford’s Own 168th Battalion in Tillsonburg and served in France duringWorldWar I. At the time, Arthur was a married farmer with two children living in Culloden. He was wounded during an attack on May 3, 1916 in the vicinity of Fresnoy, France and died from his wounds before he could be removed to a dressing station. EDWARDS, John Leroy “Leslie” Leslie was born on November 23, 1901. His parents were Jack and Louise (Williams) and he had one sister named Margaret. He was married to Lillian Ester (Zornes) and had six children: Vern, Dorothy, Allan, Betty, Thelma and Donna. Leslie enlisted during World War II in 1940 with the Essex Scottish Regiment which left Canada for England as part of the 2nd Canadian Infantry Division. Leslie was discharged in 1943, earning the 1939-1945 Star, Defence Medal, Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and the War Medal 1939-1945. Following the war, he worked with the Canadian Corps of Commissionaires in Windsor, Ontario. Leslie Edwards passed away on August 13, 1982. EDWARDS, Allen Keith Allen was born on August 29, 1924 in Pennsylvania, USA to Leslie Leroy and Lillian Esther Edwards. He had five siblings: Vernon, Donna, Dorothy, Betty and Darlene. On February 12, 1943, he enlisted with the Army and served in World War II in England as a Private with the Canadian Army - Canadian Vehicle Company. While at war, he met Margery Baker. The two were married on June 19, 1946 in England. Shortly afterward, Allen was discharged from the Army on December 5, 1946 and returned to Canada where he waited for his war bride and their first daughter, Barbara, to join him in Canada. Private Edwards received the Defence Medal, the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and Clasp as well as the War Medal 1939-1945. After the war, Allen worked as a labourer, bus driver and taxi driver and enjoyed woodworking. He and Margery had four children: Barbara, Hayden, Janet and Christopher. He passed away on December 22, 1998 and is buried at the Trinity Anglican Church, Lambeth (Memorial Garden).
