181 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND GRAHAM, Charles William Howieson Charles was born in Glasgow, Scotland, on December 26, 1961. His family immigrated to Canada in 1966. He enlisted in the Army on July 27, 1981, and served with the 1st Battalion The Royal Canadian Regiment; 2 Battalion, RCR battle group; 4th Battalion RCR; RCR Battle School; 31 Canadian Brigade Group Headquarters; The Brockville Rifles; and the 75th Ranger Battalion US Army, RCAF Aerospace Warfare Centre. He has been deployed in five theatres of operations: OP SNOW GOOSE, Cyprus 1984/85, 1989/90; OP HARMONY, Croatia, Former Yugoslav Republic, 1994/95; OP KENETIC, Kosovo 1999/2000; OP ATHENA, Afghanistan, February 2007 to September 2007. He has been awarded the following decorations: Member of Military Merit, Sacrifice Medal, South West Asia Campaign Star Afghanistan with Bar, Canadian Peacekeeping Service Medal, UN Cyprus Medal (2), UN Croatia FY, NATO Medal Kosovo FY, Queens Diamond Jubilee Medal, Canadian Forces’ Decoration (2). He is a fouryear member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 145. Charles retired on January 31, 2019. GRAHAM, William Hubert William was born in Haltwhistle Parish, England on November 12, 1917. He was living in Tillsonburg with his wife and their small son when he enlisted. He had been working in the tobacco industry and then with the Michigan Central Railway. Sergeant Graham arrived in Normandy, France on June 6, 1944, with the 19th Self Propelled Regiment Royal Canadian Artillery. The following year, he was accidentally killed in action on February 13, 1945 in the Reichswald Forest area. He is buried in the Holten Canadian War Cemetery in the Netherlands. GRAHAM, Frederic “Barry” Barry was born in London on May 29, 1940 and educated at Lady Beck Public School, Knollwood Park Public School and London Central Collegiate where he joined the #9 Royal Canadian Army Cadet Corps. On May 25, 1957, he joined 3RCR London and Oxford Fusiliers as a Private and rose in rank to Staff Sergeant and was then commissioned. He proceeded through the officer ranks and commanded 4RCR from 1979 to 1982. He served a further ten years with the Elgin Regiment. Barry worked at the Ford Motor Company, St. Thomas Assembly Plant in the Material Handling Department for thirty years, retiring in 1997. After retirement, he attendedWestern University and graduated in 2005 with an Honours degree in Political Science. He continues to take interesting courses. He belongs to the GCC, RLMI, RCR Association and Hospitaller Order of St John of Jerusalem. He is treasurer of the first three listed as well as the Auditor of the National RCR Association. He is also a member of The Royal Canadian Legion Vimy Branch 145. Barry has three children, Jo-Anne, Jennifer and Matthew and seven grandchildren.
