If there is anything of which we may be certain these days, it is that the great upheaval of the COVID-19 pandemic is no match for the proud tradition of dedicated service common to all members of the Canadian Armed Forces. We all are grateful for their assistance as we grapple with this global health crisis. Though the challenges facing us may be unfamiliar, the efforts of those in uniform are anything but. Indeed, our evolution as a country, in times of war and peace, has in many ways depended upon their sacrifices, which it is our duty as citizens to honour. The stories that fill the pages of this book are a testament to the resilience of the human spirit, and I have no doubt that readers will come away with a profound sense of gratitude and respect.
