57 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND BEVERLEY, David Albert David was born in Claremont, Ontario on June 9, 1936. He enlisted in the Army on January 27, 1955 as a Peacekeeper. During his time in service, he also learned how to play the Bagpipes. David was a member of The Royal Canadian Legion Claremont Branch 483. David passed away on August 25, 1988. BIERSCHBACH, Alex Joseph Alex was born in Waterloo, Ontario on February 7, 1894 son of John Bierschbach. Prior to World War I, Alex was working as a shoe maker. He joined the military on May 31, 1918 and took his training with 1st Depot Battalion W.O.R. At that time, many recruits were being discharged due to Demobilization of the Canadian Expeditionary Force. Alex received an honourable discharge on January 10, 1919. He joined The Royal Canadian Legion Kitchener Branch 50 and then transferred to Waterloo Branch 530. Alex passed away in 1975 and his name is inscribed on plaque #1 of the Waterloo Legion Veterans Memorial Wall. BEZAIRE, Francis Anthony “Frank” Frank was born in Malden Township, near Amherstburg, Ontario onApril 17, 1922. He enlisted in the Army during World War II in Windsor, Ontario on July 6, 1942 and was assigned to the Essex Scottish Regiment in the 30th RECCE (Reconnaissance Regiment) - motorcycle unit. He did his basic training at Worsley Barracks in London, Ontario and motorcycle training in Saskatchewan. He embarked for England on July 23, 1943. He transferred to the Royal Canadian Electrical and Mechanical Engineers in October 1943 and embarked for France on July 9, 1944. Frank’s service also took him to Belgium, Holland and Germany. He returned home and worked as a heavy-duty mechanic. He married and raised a family of four children. Frank was a member of The Royal Canadian Legion Branch 157 in Amherstburg. He passed away on January 27, 2006.
