65 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND BOTT, Alexander John “Al” Al was born in Rocky Mountain House, Alberta on April 5,1939. He enlisted in the Navy, Regular Force on January 2,1960 and completed basic training at HMCS Cornwallis. Al served on many bases throughout his career, doing two tours every twenty months on the aircraft carrier HMCS Bonaventure and a tour in Lahr, Germany and the Army. The latter part of his years of service were in Camp Borden at CFMSS and Base Hospital. Al retired while at CFB Borden in 1994 after 35 years of service. He has been a member of The Royal Canadian Legion Mount Albert & District Branch 382 for over nineteen years. He has the Canadian Forces Decoration with two clasps. BOUCHER, Marcel Emilien Marcel was born Saint-Adolphe-de-Dudswell, Quebec on February 29, 1920. He enlisted in the Army in Cowansville, Quebec on July 19, 1940 and did his training in St-Jean d’Iberville, then more training in Petawawa, Ontario. In England, he took a paratrooper course. He served in the United Kingdom and Continental Europe during World War II. He was awarded the France and Germany Star, War Medal 1939-1945, Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and Paratrooper Wings. Marcel was discharged on November 7, 1945. After taking a course in goldsmith and watch repair, Marcel opened a jewelry store in Hear which he operated for 34 years then retired at age 65. He has been a member of The Royal Canadian Legion Branch 173 since 1948. BOUCHER, Leo Joseph Leo was born on March 25, 1927 in Minto, New Brunswick. He volunteered for the CanadianArmed Forces and enlisted inApril 1945, receiving an honourable discharge in September/December 1945. He volunteered when the KoreanWar erupted, enlisted on August 13, 1950 with the Canadian Armed Special Forces (CASF) and as a member of 57 Independent Field Squadron RCE he trained with the 25th Infantry Brigade in Fort Lewis, Washington prior to deployment to Korea. Master Corporal Boucher rotated out of Korea in July/August 1952 and continued to serve in the RCE until retirement in October 1975 after over 25 years of service. His postings included Chilliwack, Borden, Kingston, Centralia, Kamloops and Greenwood. Leo did three arctic tours including Gander/Thule plus deployment in the 1950’s with United Nations Emergency Force. Some of his medals and service awards included the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal, VictoryWar Medal, Korea War Medal, UN Medal (Korea), UNEF Medal, Egypt Medal, Canadian Forces’ Decoration, Confederations Medal and Koreans Ambassador’s Peace Medal. He spent his remaining years with Iona, the love of his life, and family until he passed in August 2016. Leo was a Life Member of The Royal Canadian Legion Branch 12 in Minto.
