Military Service Recognition Book

7 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND A MESSAGE FROMTHE CHAIRMAN It is an honour and a privilege to bring you greetings and to introduce you to Volume VII of our annual Military Service Recognition Book Program. As we know, the year 2020 has not been an easy year for any of us. We have lived through unprecedented times with the COVID-19 pandemic. And unfortunately, many lost loved ones during this pandemic. Our most sincere sympathies, thoughts and prayers go out to those families who were affected by this deadly virus. Of course, with this pandemic, we were not sure if we would even be able to publish Volume #7 of our book of Remembrance. However, through the efforts of our various Governments in lifting some of the restrictions that were imposed upon us during our COVID-19 pandemic, and through the combined efforts of our publisher and staff, the staff at Ontario Command, our Branches, and our many volunteers, we have been able to do so. Our program of course is dedicated to our Veterans within the Province of Ontario and to tell their stories. But with what we have gone through this year with our pandemic, let us not forget our very dedicated hard-working frontline workers. They have put in many long hours under very strenuous and less than ideal conditions during the pandemic. We salute you and thank you for all the care, hard work and dedication you have provided during these very difficult times. It has been through the combined efforts and contributions of our Branches, Zones, Districts, and Command that we again have been able to produce a most successful publication for our Command. It has been a real team effort through the continual promotion of our program with our Veterans and families throughout Ontario Command in obtaining submissions for our books of Remembrance. My sincere thanks and appreciation to every one of you in making our Volume #7 possible during these very trying times. Your dedication, support, and cooperation towards the success of this very important program is certainly appreciated. Keep up the good work. Special thanks to our two Provincial Coordinators Carolyn McCaul and MaryAnn Goheen, our District Coordinators, District Commanders, Zone Commanders, the staff at Ontario Command, our Provincial President Garry Pond, members of our Ladies’Auxiliary, and all of my fellow Senior Elected Officers of Ontario Command. It is only through everyone’s efforts that we will continue to be successful in telling the story about Veterans in communities across this great Province of ours. It has been both a privilege and an honour to have served you as Chairman of this great Veterans Remembrance program since its inception in 2013. We will Remember them!
