89 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND CAMPBELL, William Robert “Bob” William was born in Brampton, Ontario on March 2, 1950. He joined the Canadian Armed Forces on May 7, 1979. After basic training at CFB Cornwallis, NS and Military Police Training at CFB Bordon he was posted to CFB Comax, BC. Private Campbell served there as a member of the Base Security Unit until his discharge on March 25, 1982. Upon discharge from the CAF, he was sworn into the RCMP onApril 2, 1982 and attended recruit training at Regina, SK. William completed recruit training and performed uniformed police duties in Saskatchewan until being posted to the Northwest Territories in September 1987. William performed uniform policing duties in small, isolated detachments in the Western Artic until April 1995 when he was promoted to Corporal and assumed the role of Detachment Commander at Fort Liard, NT until July 1997. Corporal Campbell was then transferred to the Bowmanville Drug Section and was promoted to Sergeant in August 2001. In June 2006, Sergeant Campbell was transferred to the Anti Corruption Unit where he served until his retirement on January 6, 2016. During his service he received the RCMP Long Service Medal and Silver Star award as well as the Queens Diamond Jubilee Medal. He is a 22-year member of The Royal Canadian Legion Bowmanville Branch 178. CARR, Stanley Lloyd Cecil Stanley was born in Hirschberg, Germany on July 8, 1954. He enlisted with the Royal Canadian Air Force, 4 RCR, 2 RCR, Int Branch, 22 Service on July 8, 1970. He served in Canada, Norway, AF North/South, Cyprus, and Afghanistan. He also joined United Nations staff served in Liberia, Iraq, Syria and Pakistan for seven years. Stanley was awarded the US Army Bronze Star for service in Afghanistan 2005. He was discharged on June 6, 2006. He is a one-year member of The Royal Canadian Legion Vimy Branch 145. CAREY, William Graham William was born in 1932. He joined the Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry in 1951 at the age of nineteen. His unit deployed to Korea as part of the Canadian Army Special Force. The CASF was to be raised as part of the regular army. In 1953, William left the army and worked for a few years before returning to the army in 1956. He qualified as a paratrooper, earning both Canadian and American jump wings, and eventually re-mustered from the infantry and retrained in the Royal Canadian Electrical and Mechanical Engineers. William served in Canada, Korea, and Sinai. He spent the next 26 years in uniform. He retired in 1982 as a Warrant Officer. His service earned the Canadian Korea Medal, Canadian Volunteer Service Medal for Korea, United Nations Service Medal (Korea), Canadian Peacekeeping Service Medal, United Nations Emergency Force Medal (UNEF), and the Canadian Forces’ Decoration (CD) with single clasp representing 22 years of honourable long-service with good conduct. He was a member of The Royal Canadian Legion Fred Gies Branch 50 for twenty years. William passed away in 2011 at the age of 79.
