97 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND CHEESEMAN, Howard Lloyd Howard was born in Hamilton, Ontario in 1920. He had one sister, Marion, and six brothers, Thomas, Gordon, Joseph, Edward, Alan and Vernon. His parents were Thomas Soloman Cheeseman and Mary Rowan Gerrard. He joined the Army in 1939 serving with the 14th Canadian Hussars. He died in his country’s service on April 9, 1945 and is buried in Holton Cemetery in Holland. CHENIER, Joseph Douglas Joseph was born in Cornwall, Ontario on January 20, 1928. He enlisted in the Army Regular Force and was assigned to Signals. Joseph served in the Middle East and Resolute Bay for six months at a time. He worked in Camp Ontario Diefenbunker. He only received medals after he was retired. He was a member of The Royal Canadian Legion. Joseph passed away on February 9, 2002. CHEESEMAN, Joseph James Joseph was born in Hamilton, Ontario on October 7, 1915. He joined the Army in 1942 and served with the 3rd Edmonton Fusiliers until his discharge on March 10, 1944 due to medical reasons. He was stationed in Prince George, BC during World War II. Joseph had one sister, Marion, and six brothers, Thomas, Gordon, Edward, Alan, Vernon and Howard. He was the son of Thomas Solomon Cheeseman and Mary Rowan Gerrard. He married Stella Mae Duckworth and had six children, daughter Sharon and sons Lloyd, Bryan, Kim, Bruce and Joe. He worked for CNR for 35 years and lived in Hamilton for his entire life. Joseph passed away on August 4, 1981.
