101 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND CALDWELL, Brian James MacKenzie Brian was born on December 24, 1936 in Toronto, Ontario. He enlisted in the Army in October 1956 and served with the Regular Force, RCD 8CH, Fort Garry Horse. He served in Canada, and West Germany until his discharge in May 1968. Brian was also with the Armoured Corps as Captain, a helicopter Pilot and Air Canada Captain and Pilot. Brian is a member of The Royal Canadian Legion Owen Sound Branch 6. CAMERON, Orville F. Orville was born on May 14, 1890 in Arkona, Ontario. He served in the Army during World War I with the 31st Battalion Canadian Expeditionary Force. After the war, Orville’s health was poor, and he passed away on February 19, 1936 from bronchopneumonia. He is buried in the Arkona Cemetery. CAMERON, John Alexander “Jack” Jack was born on September 29, 1985 in Eastnor Township, County of Bruce, Ontario. On April 13, 1916 he enlisted in Lethbridge with the 113th Highlanders. His brother Ronald (Rae) had enlisted in his home County of Bruce with the 160th Bruce Battalion the previous month. Jack went overseas in September 1916 and within two weeks was sent to France with a machine gun section. He was wounded at the Battle of Vimy Ridge on April 11, 1917 and sent to hospital in England where he had several surgeries. Following recovery, he served on Transport Duty but died of influenza on October 22, 1918 in England. Known as Alex to his family, he has had many nephews, great nephews, and great-great nephews named Alexander after him. He is forever remembered. Jack is buried in Orpington Cemetery, Kent England.
