109 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND CAMPBELL, Stewart Laughlan Stewart was born on June 14, 1893 in Tobermory, Ontario. He enlisted on June 22, 1915 with the Army Regular Force, joining the 45th Battalion. He served in France where he went missing on September 26, 1916 and was presumed dead. He was 23 years old. He is commemorated on the Vimy Memorial. CARPENTER, Alfred Alfred was born on December 11, 1898 in London, England, the son of Alfred and Elizabeth Carpenter. He immigrated to Canada in 1913, his guardian was Murdock McKenzie. Alfred worked on the farm in West Williams Township. He enlisted in the Army on February 11, 1916 and joined the 135th Battalion. Alfred served in Canada and England until his discharge in 1919. He returned to Middlesex and farmed. Alfred passed away February 16, 1966 buried at Nairn Cemetery in Ontario. CAMPBELL, Sydney Franklin “Frank” Frank was born on August 19, 1891 in Petrolia, Ontario. The family moved to Parkhill, Ontario and Frank enlisted in the Army in January 1918 joining the 1st Depot BattalionWestern, Ontario Regiment. He sailed on the SS Cretic arriving in England in March 1918. Frank served in France in November 1918 and was discharged in June 1919. Frank passed away in 1963 and is buried in Strathroy Municipal Cemetery.
