115 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND CASE, Ken Ken was born in Mount Albert, Ontario on June 23, 1924. He enlisted in the Army in 1943 with the Royal Canadian Engineers 2nd Division. He was given an honourable discharge in March 1946. He received the War Medal 1939-1945 and Canadian Volunteer Service Medal with clasp. Upon his return home, he married Marion Stokes and began working with Bell Canada. It was not long before he joined The Royal Canadian Legion Branch 382 Mount Albert District where he became very involved. He was also a member of the Mount Albert Fire Department for a number of years before he retired. Ken passed away on April 23, 1990 and left behind his wife Marion who passed away on December 23, 2014. CAUVIER, Bernard Roch Bernard was born on January 2, 1933 in Grande-Rivière, Quebec. He enlisted in the Royal Canadian Army Medical Corps on February 23, 1950 and trained at Camp Borden. In 1950, the medical corps formed a small elite airborne unit and went to Petawawa for nine weeks of pre-para training before going to Rivers, Manitoba for parachute training and upon passing the course, formed Borden #1 Airborne Medical Section. He served with them until February 1953. Bernard served in Korea with the 3rd Canadian Field Ambulance as a regimental policeman. After Korea, he mustered to Radiology and completed tours in Soest and Lahr, Germany, served in Canada in Toronto, Sainte-Foy, Ottawa, and Halifax for his last ten years of service as Chief of Radiology for bases east of Ottawa. In 1984, he was made RSM of Canadian Forces Base Hospital, Halifax. Bernard ended his regular force service on January 2, 1988, served five more years with reserve force and retired with 41 years of combined service. In October 2017, after sixty years of marriage, he lost his dear wife Lilly. Bernard lived in Almonte, Ontario and was a 25-year member of Branch 240 until his death on February 8, 2021. CATHRAE, James Franklin “Frank” Frank was born on March 24, 1905 in Sydenham Township, Grey County, Ontario. Prior to enlisting with the Army, Frank was a farmer. On January 21, 1942, he enlisted with the Army during World War II. He was a fully trained infantryman and served with the 26 Canadian Army Tank Reg (GSF) CA as a Trooper. He served in England and was discharged on April 19, 1944. Frank passed away on August 25, 1989.
